The message is clear: it is still possible to limit global warming to 1.5°C, but we are dangerously close to that threshold. To avoid the worst effects of climate breakdown, global emissions must be halved by 2030 and reach net-zero by 2050 at the latest. This is a challenge for every business, and it is not someone else’s problem.
That is why we are incredibly proud to announce that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has officially approved Cowin Global’s near-term science-based emissions reduction target.
What is a Science Based Target (SBT)?
An SBT is a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction goal set by a company that aligns with what climate science says is necessary to meet the Paris Agreement goals—specifically, limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. It is not a vague promise or a marketing slogan; it is a science-verified roadmap for decarbonisation. The gold standard for this is validation from the SBTi, a global body backed by the UN, CDP, WWF, and others.
Our Specific Commitment
Cowin Global commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2023 base year, and to measure and reduce its Scope 3 emissions.
